The Island of Longevity

Where is Okinawa?

Ogimi Village

Okinawa is in-between Japan and Taiwan. It is the southern most prefecture of Japan. It is considered one of the 5 blue zones in the world. A blue zone is an area where people live longer on average than the rest of the world. One of the 'longevity villages' in Okinawa is called Ogimi Village. Despite Western influence, many villages in Okinawa are still home to centenarians, or people who live to be 100 years old.

GRAB THE #1 OKINAWA DIET BOOK:

The Okinawa Diet Plan

From inside the flap: The elders of Okinawa, Japan, are among the leanest and longest-lived people on earth. These Okinawans--many in their eighties, nineties, and beyond--maintain an unprecedented quality of life. More than any other population, older Okinawans are slim and agile, and their minds are clear and lucid. Few suffer the lifestyle-related diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity that are so common in their western counterparts.
